Our Sheet Music team plays, strums and sings just as much as you do! We're a team of musicians who love music of various styles and, when we're not busy with all things Sheet Music Direct, play at home, church, and gigs. Each month, we're sharing some of the favorite songs we're currently playing and why we think you'll love them too.

Becca's Pick
When You Believe (from The Prince of Egypt), Whitney Houston & Mariah Carey

Featured in the 1998 DreamWorks film The Prince of Egypt, this powerful ballad was recorded and featured during the ending credits of the film, and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song the following year. "When You Believe" ended up being the only song that Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey ever collaborated on, and surprisingly they did not perform this song together very many times. Even though this song has been around for over 25 years, it's still a timeless and powerful song to play.

Dan's Pick
At All Costs (from The Wish), Chris Pine and Ariana DeBose

After watching Disney's Wish with my kids last weekend on Disney+, I was truly captivated by the soundtrack. While "This Wish" is the undeniable hit, "At All Costs" struck me as unique in the way it humanized the film's conceited, yet well-intentioned, villain, Magnifico. The song is a beautiful 6/8 ballad featuring stunning vocal harmonies. Play it on your own, as a duet, or even together with a choir.

George's Pick
On the Nature of Daylight, Max Richter

Maybe I'm still thinking about the lunar eclipse as I select this work. Max Richter's hauntingly beautiful composition embodies the complex interplay of light and shadow, capturing the ephemeral beauty of dawn and dusk. Its stirring strings and melancholic progression evoke a deep sense of reflection and emotional resonance

Annie's Pick
Here Comes the Sun, The Beatles

Here in Wisconsin, we're still waiting for consistent spring weather, and I'm already looking forward to the summer weather as well. What better song to welcome these seasons than The Beatles' "Here Comes The Sun"? The quiet music of the introduction and first line of the song perfectly match the feeling of seeing the sun shine after a long winter.

Jill's Pick
Bold As Love, Jimi Hendrix

National Guitar Month is a great time to revisit this under-played masterpiece from icon Jimi Hendrix. His work on this track seems so effortless but it was ground-breaking at the time and I still discover something new with each listen.

Sam's Pick
Yes Sir, That's My Baby, Walter Donaldson & Gus Kahn (arr. David Wright)

In case you didn't know, April 11th is Barbershop Quartet Day! So, it felt like a good time to dig out an old favorite which I performed with some friends at my very own wedding some 14 years ago! For anyone who enjoys a bit of close harmony singing, this 20s classic is a fun choice.
